These first few hours, a microcosm in the grand scale of time, are the precious moments that cement the foundation of a lifetime.  You and I will have a lifetime to build together but it is these first 24 hours that I look upon with a special joy.

Lately I have been spending time in various antique malls across Central Texas.  My wife and I have had some "Kids Free" time as of late (ironically while waiting for the birth of a new one).  So we have frequented some beautiful towns and shopping centers and without fail I will find an antique store.

Each year the Fort Hood MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) and the family of volunteers take the time to pay homage to those who marched to the drums, cried "Havoc!" and were America's Dogs of War.  They honor those who left with their shield and returned upon it.  Flags forward into battle, now folded and upon a mantle.

Quiet daybreak bathed in soft sunlight.  The steadied rhythm of a loving couple out on their morning jog.  Coffee houses preparing the town with its brewed delights.  One could get lost in the simplicity of the atmosphere, the slowed pace of the mood and the rich character of the people of the town.
